  • Celebrating 500 Years - Our Work with Christ Church, Oxford University

We were honoured to be part of a landmark celebration this year, the 500th Anniversary of Christ Church, Oxford University . As one of the most iconic and historic institutions in the UK, Christ Church required nothing short of excellence to mark such a monumental milestone. Our role in this special project involved a full service print and signage package, from pre-press set up to cut vinyl production and installation. Every detail mattered, and none more so than the finishing touches that made the signage truly stand out. One of the most unique aspects of this project was the application of fret-cut gold vinyl, used to overlay the Christ Church logo on each display board. The precision required for this process was critical, as was ensuring the rich gold finish reflected the elegance and prestige of the college's identity. Using our new Summa S3 T160 cutter we were able to utilize its speed in mass producing all the fret cut logos in one roll of vinyl and with the new ‘flex cut’ feature, we were able to individually cut out each logo to create a consistent finish and an easy apply sticker to mount onto each board. In total, there were 51 boards with gold logos so it was vital each were identical. We produced two 3m wide fabric display stands using our easy to assemble formulate hardware stands. These were a key solution to create a free-standing display that was eye catching and informative as it was essential nothing was mounted to the walls. Stunning visuals that blended traditional branding with high end production techniques, a perfect visual tribute to 500 years of academic excellence and architectural beauty. This project was especially meaningful to our team, as our Company Director is a Christ Church alumnus. Working with Christ Church on such a prestigious occasion was both a professional privilege and a personal honour. Want to work with us on your special event? Why not get in touch !

  • Leaflet Liberation: Exploring the Diverse World of Leaflet Design

Leaflets. They're small, they're portable, and they're surprisingly powerful. But let's be honest, not all leaflets are created equal. Some get tossed in the bin before they've even been glanced at, while others captivate and convert. What's the secret? It's all in the design! Today, we're diving deep into the fascinating world of leaflet design, exploring the many styles that can transform a simple piece of paper into a marketing masterpiece. Beyond the Basic Fold: A Spectrum of Styles Leaflets aren't just about cramming text onto a page. They're about visual communication, and that means embracing diverse design approaches. Here are some of the most common and effective styles: Minimalist Magic: Think clean lines, ample white space, and a focus on key information. This style is perfect for conveying sophistication and clarity. It relies on strong typography and a limited colour palette to create a powerful impact. Ideal for high-end products, professional services, and events where elegance is paramount. Bold and Vibrant: This style screams for attention with bright colours, dynamic imagery, and eye-catching typography. It's perfect for promoting sales, events, and anything that needs to generate excitement. Think playful fonts, striking graphics, and a sense of energy. Informative and Structured: This style prioritizes clarity and organization, using clear headings, bullet points, and visual hierarchies to guide the reader. It's ideal for providing detailed information, such as product specifications, event schedules, or educational materials. Think grids, infographics, and a logical flow of information. Storytelling and Narrative: This style uses visuals and text to tell a compelling story, connecting with the reader on an emotional level. It's perfect for building brand awareness, promoting social causes, or showcasing the human side of a business. Think evocative imagery, personal anecdotes, and a sense of connection. Geometric and Abstract: This style embraces abstract shapes, patterns, and geometric designs to create a visually striking and modern aesthetic. It's ideal for tech companies, design agencies, and businesses that want to convey innovation and creativity. Think bold shapes, intricate patterns, and a sense of artistic flair. Handcrafted and Organic: This style uses hand drawn illustrations, organic shapes, and natural textures to create a warm and inviting feel. This style works well for small businesses, local shops, and products that are natural or handmade. Think of watercolours, hand lettering, and earthy tones. Key Design Considerations: No matter the style, effective leaflet design hinges on several key considerations: Target Audience:  Who are you trying to reach? Tailor your design to their preferences and needs. Brand Identity:  Ensure your leaflet reflects your brand's overall aesthetic and messaging. Call to Action:  What do you want the reader to do? Make it clear and compelling. High-Quality Imagery:  Use professional photos or illustrations that are relevant and engaging. Clear and Concise Text:  Keep your message brief and easy to understand. Proper Folding:  Think about how the leaflet will be folded and how that affects the layout. Paper Quality:  The weight and finish of the paper can significantly impact the perceived value of your leaflet. Leaflets: A Timeless Tool in a Digital Age While the digital landscape continues to evolve, leaflets remain a powerful and versatile marketing tool. By understanding the diverse styles of leaflet design and applying key design principles, you can create leaflets that not only capture attention but also drive results. So, unleash your creativity, experiment with different styles, and watch your leaflets transform from disposable paper to powerful marketing assets. • Framework Christmas Donations

Framework are a charity that supports people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Sheffield. Each year at Framework they aim to provide a Christmas gifts to all their accommodation-based service users – around 1,300 people. In most cases this is the only gift they receive and it’s another method of reaching out and offering support, at a time which for many is both challenging and very lonely. Framework rely on fundraising to support the Christmas gift idea and reached out to John E Wright and other businesses to ask if we would make them their charity of choice over the festive period. Sunrise House which is based in Bestwood, was our chosen service we would be donating to. They are a 24/7 staffed supported accommodation service for young mothers and their children. John E Wright & Co we're more than happy to donate some festive joy for such a good cause when we learned about this. We liked the popular shoe box idea, so we decided to make our very own and filled them with items such as; selection boxes, sweet treats, biscuits, toiletries, warm socks and much more! Our staff kindly donated hampers from our suppliers which contributed to part of the festive donation. Staff also dug deep at their homes for puzzles and more mindful gifts, anything we thought that can make someone smile. One hamper was donated directly to Framework's - Val Roberts House service, which would later be raffled on to generate a little money. We hope this act of kindness, no matter how small brings a little light to someones life. Merry Christmas from everyone at John E Wright & Co Ltd.

The 5 new EV chargers mean that our Nottingham HQ is now ready for the rollout of electric vans. Getting a large contribution to the installation costs via the Workplace Travel Service has been really helpful.”   Following a review of the application by the Workplace Travel Service panel, 2 grants totaling  £25,000 were awarded. John E Wright paid 25% of the cost, plus VAT, with the remaining 75% coming from the Government’s Local Transport Plan and Nottingham’s Workplace Parking Levy, which means businesses and organisations in Nottingham are supported with sustainable workplace travel improvements at no cost to the Council.    Councillor Neghat Khan, Leader of Nottingham City Council and Executive Member for Strategic Regeneration, Transport and Communications said: “It’s wonderful to see such a successful and locally-established national business getting on board with going carbon neutral by taking advantage of our Workplace Travel Service grants to benefit us all by improving air quality and lowering harmful emissions.” “Our grants for this financial year are closing soon, so now is the time for businesses, charities and public sector organisations to begin your grant application before you miss out.” For further information about making a grant application contact workplacetravelservice@nottinghamcity.gov.uk For green printing ideas why not visist our Eco Displays page
