In 2013, it was announced that Hull was to be the UK’s City of Culture for 2017. Hull City Council announced the news to wide excitement in the local community and the Hull 2017 Company went to work to find partners who could deliver the sort of impact and series of cultural events to make the local and wider communities proud. After a tough tender process John E Wright was delighted to be asked to join a core team of suppliers to deliver the activities and events throughout the year of 2017. The Council said, “we chose John E Wright for the quality of their work, the reasonable price charged but most of all for their proven reliability with even the toughest of deadlines”. In the end, more than 3.5 million people attended City of Culture events providing a welcome boost to the local economy and putting Hull well and truly on the map.
